The town is part of the regional natural park of Caps et Marais d'Opale and is located at one end of the Marais audomarois . It is 10 km from Saint-Omer and 30 km from Calais .

The town covers 2,550 ha including 750 ha of forest. It is made up of eight hamlets. In length, it is more than 10 km.

The forest of Éperlecques occupies a total surface of 850 ha (with the part located in southern limit of Ruminghem ) and constitutes one of the great natural spaces of the agglomeration.
